Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, typically on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score by getting a ball, usually spherical, into the opposing team’s goal. The game is primarily played using the feet, although players can use any part of their body except the hands and arms to control the ball, with the exception of the goalkeeper, who can use their hands within the penalty area.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is widely popular globally, with variations such as association football (or soccer, as it is known in some countries), American football, and Australian rules football, each having distinct rules and gameplay.

Association football, the most commonly recognized form, is governed internationally by FIFA and features major competitions like the FIFA World Cup and domestic leagues. Football emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness, making it a significant aspect of cultural identity and community engagement in many regions around the world.
